CD and Book Review

Dear Consumers,

Having taught music for 30 years to music teachers and elementary
students, my book and CD are designed to help parents and teachers,
who have little or no musical training, quickly learn how to sing
with small children using a series of games. These educational games
do far more than entertain, they are designed to improve a child's
cognitive, social and physical abilities. The child thinks he or she
is playing while the parent or teacher understands the broad
educational benefits behind the fun. As a foundation for the games,
I have selected 10 simple children's songs or rhymes representing our
American heritage.

The book, "MUSICAL GAMES FOR PARENTS & TEACHERS OF LITTLE SINGERS,"
has five main parts:

1. Educational Elements (The curricula teaches 34 musical elements
   like same-different, high-low, fast-slow, loud-soft, role play,
   imagination, creative dancing, tone matching, alliteration, physical
   coordination, etc. which lay a foundation for music literacy).
2. Instruction for Adult/Child Activities
3. Instruction for Group Activities
4. Making Memories
5. Coloring Pages for Each Song and Rhyme

The CD has two sections:

1. Learn the Songs and Rhymes
2. Learn the Activities with Each Song and Rhyme

There are three voices on the CD:

1. Myself
2. My Daughter
3. My 13 year old Granddaughter

My children constantly make up songs wherever they are. They sing in
the car, when they set the table, and do other work. They tell each
other to "match my song" and then copy each other's words and
notes.

It becomes a game. Our house is filled with music. My six year old
tries to play the familiar tunes on the piano for fun. Then he says,
"Mom, come see what I can do!" My three year old says "Mom, come
play my music class." We then sing and play music games with dolls
and stuffed animals. Our home is filled with songs and laughter and
joy!

My Children ages three and six were enrolled in the "Well Trained
Singing School" during the 2006-2007 year. My children are very
reserved and quiet, and this class has been wonderful at building
self-confidence. They sing and move at home all the time. They can
clap and move to the beat. Mr. Knighton pushes them just enough to
get them to grow, and he uses lots of praise and encouragement. The
money spent for this class is one of the best investments we have made
for our children!

Mr. Knighton's Well Trained Singing School has been a great
experience for my children. I signed my seven year old twins up for
his class. My five year old thought it looked like fun. She is now
taking the class. Mr. Knighton is a great teacher and is very good
with his students. He is interested in what the mothers want. He
does what he can to make it happen. I highly recommend his class.

Mr. Knighton's Well Trained Singing School has been a wonderful
experience for my daughter. She has learned to sing in solfege, read
music and play the recorder. Using games and rhythmic activities,
the children developed an inner sense of beat, coordination and
enjoyment of music. Not only is the class whole-minded learning, but
whole-body. After one year in this class, my daughter can sing on
pitch, in harmony, and in a round (and stay on her own part), and
name the rhythms they are singing. Mr. Knighton works well with the
children, and they love him.
